Rhian Tait

MSc BSc (Hons)
Graduate Geoscientist

Rhian joined Ternan as a Graduate Geoscientist in the autumn of 2024. During completion of her BSc in Ocean and Geophysics at Bangor University, Rhian developed an interest in seabed morphology and focused her research on factors that influence seabed scour around shipwrecks in the Irish Sea. Rhian went on to attain an MSc in Applied Marine Geoscience. Her MSc thesis developed current understanding on the effect of clay–sand content on sediment gravity flow behaviour and mobility.

During her studies, Rhian gained offshore and onshore experience in geophysical, geotechnical and oceanographic data acquisition, analysis, collation, interpretation and reporting, along with desk top studies. She is well versed in utilising ArcGIS Pro, MATLAB and Kingdom suite for data analysis and presentation.

Outside of work, Rhian enjoys sailing atop sun-flecked seas, adventuring in the mountains, hill walking, climbing, and even exploring disused mines.

Experience summary:

  • Desk top studies
  • Data acquisition onshore and offshore
  • Geophysical data interpretation and integration including bathymetry, backscatter, seismic and side-scan sonar
  • Report writing
